250% Stretch Goal: The Tower of the Windwatchers
7 months ago – Mon, Mar 04, 2024 at 09:53:58 AM

Greetings!

I am struggling keeping up with the visuals and the material to show, but I am catching up. It's been 24 hours and you already reached the 250% stretch goal! THANK YOU!

At the moment we are at 278%, and I counted around 400 books only by looking at the reward tiers. I will be able to have the final count only after the surveys, but I can get an idea.

We are near 300% and that unlocks The Claw... BUT I am not ready with the visuals (my bad).  I have  to postpone the release of The Claw to the end of the next week, 7-10 days from now if we reach 300%, which is possible. I want to be sure you have a good idea of the thing. Please be patient and merciful :)

The Tower of the Windwatchers

Also known as custom 6-deck box, or Windwatchers Tower, this custom box resembles the tower depicted on the map and on the tuckbox of the Windwatcher editions.

Left: the tower on the map. Right: the tower on the Windwatcher edition.

I had to some acrobatic box design to achieve a box that achieves this look, and I am sure the real deal will be much more attractive than the following renderings and mockups.

Box Design Video

I recorded this video to show how it works. In this video you see also some tests with printed graphics that of course don't do justice.

3D renderings and design

The following renderings give an idea and they simulate the following:

  • Paper with stone texture (outside) paired with dark gray paper for the inside for extra structural strength, not like my mock-ups.
  • Antique gold foil application, same as the Nephilim
  • embossing, debossing
  • extra card with progressive number and signature

How it looks

The following photoshop rendering tries to emulate the look of the box. The real one will be much better. This side shows the 6 decks with their edge print or gilding. I took a picture of the blank mock-up you see in the video and applied the graphics.

Photoshop rendering

How is it assigned on Kickstarter?

The rewards with this item in the list (listed as: custom 6-deck box) will automatically get it and no action is needed if happy with that.

Custom 6-deck box = the box itself that will be filled with 6 decks in 2-2-2 configuration.

Windwatcher Tower = the Custom 6-deck-box with 6 decks in 2-2-2 configuration

There are a few conditions:

  • not possible to add an empy box, these are packed at the factory.
  • not possible to configure the box. The configuration is 2-2-2 only, as in the picture.
  • not possible to choose the number, they are assigned randomly during fulfillment
  • there is no uncut 6-deck box available, not at the moment.

Additionally:

  • It is possible to add the Windwatcher Tower (box with 6 decks) as add-on from today at €99 and no extra shipping costs.
  • It will be delivered with protective plastic (shrink wrap transparent film).
  • Boschiero&Newton in Italy will print these.
  • It is a Kickstarter exclusive, that's why is numbered and signed.

Suggestion:

  • Before adding one or two, check if the high tiers offer a better deal.

Mini deck, additional picture

I made these rendering show how the mini deck looks and how it matches with the Quartemaster mini deck.

Tuckbox Prints: the back side

The campaign page does not show the back side of these in full, and I wanted to show the full design of the 3 variants. It is the inner print of the tuckboxes, 3 different designs as the 3 different bloodlines.

The following pictures are the back side of the prints.

That's all for now, I hope this update explains everything in details. I will work on The Claw, even if you do not know what is that :)

Thank you for the amazing support and stay tuned!

Incredible start, 2 stretch goals unlocked: mini deck and colored edges!
7 months ago – Sun, Mar 03, 2024 at 01:46:27 PM

Dear backers, THANK YOU!

What an incredible start! Funded in 8 minutes and 2 stretch goals unlocked. I am very glad that I received very few emails with questions,  it means that the campaign is quite clear.

I will write updates with very little text, many pictures, and as clear as possible. It is important that you read them as it is the only way to communicate with you all.

Let's begin:

150% STRETCH GOAL: MINI DECK UNLOCKED!

This means that:

  • The rewards with the Windwatcher mini deck in the list, are going to get it.
  • Anyone can add the the desired quantity of mini decks on top of the pledge (find "manage my pledge" button)

Specs:

  • half poker size 44x63mm 2mm radius for the round corners
  • same paper stock as the poker size decks
  • I think it has 56 cards, I do not remember at the moment.
  • the faces are the same as the poker size decks, but I might do some changes when I adapt them to the mini, most likely the background.

Additionaly, actually "subtractionally", and related to production process:

  • no tuckbox print available
  • no uncut sheet available

I can show you a prototype made here in Stockholm, but I will prepare better visuals for the campaign page shortly.

200% STRETCH GOAL: COLOR EDGES UNLOCKED

ALL the Gibborim and Malakim decks will automatically be upgraded and have the colored edges.

It means the following, just to avoid misunderstandings:

  • do nothing, no need to upgrade or spend more money.

Any Gibborim and any Malakim will have colored edges. This is not gilding, it is a matte color that enhances the look of the deck.

retouched photo showing the colored edges.

I know it looks inverted, but it is made on purpose.

As reference, I can show you the color edge of an existing deck, which has a bright red color. Many know it, but it is worth showing the real deal.

That's all for now. I will prepare more pictures for the campaign, and update the page over time.

Thank you again so much for this amazing start! Spread the voice, I am sure you want to unlock the 400% stretch goal and have ALL Malakim and Gibborim gilded, right? :)

Have a great day!

Lorenzo
